By now, most employers required to file an Employer Information Report EEO-1 (known as the EEO-1 Report) with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission should have received 2015 EEO-1 filing materials in the mail. Letters are typically mailed beginning in mid-July, as the deadline for filing the survey is September 30, 2015. The EEO-1 Report is a compliance survey report that is mandated by federal statute and requires company employment data to be categorized by race or ethnicity, gender, and job category.

Soon we will be ushering in the New Year, which marks the first for the roll-out of the Employer Shared Responsibility provisions under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Though numerous guidelines were put forth to inform employers of how to satisfy the requirements under this employer mandate, 2014 also provided an opportunity to understand ways in which employers will fail (or at the very least, struggle) to meet these same obligations.
